We consider audio to be a lecture or speech if one or more people address an audience sequentially. For example: One person speaks or introduces somebody, the speaker addresses the audience or class, the moderator concludes the session.

Lectures/Speeches bill at either our Type-2 or Type-1 rate. For Type-1, the audio must be recorded as a direct feed from the sound system and without a Q&A Session. See below for details
Pricing: Please select one of the following options:
Type 2 pricing applies to all Lectures or Speeches where any of the following occur:
- Not professionally recorded.
- Heavy Accents
- Recorded from the audience. Not a direct feed from mixing board.
- There is a brief Q&A session. (Lecture followed by Questions)
- Socratic Method (Lecturer and Audience interact throughout)
- Excessive room or audience noise.
- Poor sound quality (tape or environment).
- Speakers using English as a second language.
- Two speakers at the same time.
- Recorded on Microcassette.
- Material is of a highly technical nature.
If there is an extensive Q&A session ( more than 10 minutes in length) or the Q&A is really a back-and-forth, then that portion of the file would bill at our Type-3 rate.

Type 1 pricing applies only if the lecture is professionally recorded with a direct feed from the microphone into professional equipment. Additionally, the speaker must speak American dialect English as a first language or have very light British, Australian or New Zealand accents.
We have found that most lectures and speeches are billed as Type-2 as they do not meet the strict sound quality requirements for Type-1.
If there is a Q&A session that you want transcribed, then the entire length of the lecture is billed as Type-2. (We do not separate the lecture from the Q&A as a general rule. If we were to do so, the Q&A portion would bill at the Type-3 rate)
