We can provide a wide range of Closed Caption sync files for use in either Broadcast, YouTube, Vimeo or Americans with Disability Act (ADA) compliance.
You will need to provide us with the specific format of caption file you need. There are a great many, we can handle most, but you need to consult with your post-production team as to what you specifically need. For example, YouTube works fine with a SRT caption file, but your specific circumstance may require a different format.
The prices below include transcription as well as captioning. You will receive both a transcript as well as a caption file. For quality control reasons, we do not offer caption services on transcripts that we did not create.
We only provide the caption sync file. We do not offer any encoding of the file onto broadcast delivery tapes. This function is provide by most video post-production facilities. They would take the caption sync file we prepare and your video and encode the two together into a master tape with caption encoding

If your final piece has a Music and Effect audio track, we bill at this rate due to the increased complexity of trying to caption dialog which has music and effects mixed underneath it.
If possible, we would recommend that you export your final show with the M&E track turned off so that you can get the cheaper rate listed above.

Type-1 w/Captions applies only to professionally recorded and duplicated One-on-One
recordings conducted in a quiet environment with
native-English speaking interviewees or speakers. Type 1 w/Captions materials are typically produced by
film or television crews using professional recording techniques
and have the following characteristics.

Type-2 w/Captions would apply to most lectures and speeches as well as audio not meeting the Type-1 classification
Type 2 w/Captions pricing applies to unedited audio where any of the following occur:
- Not professionally recorded.
- There is a brief Q&A session. (Lecture followed by Questions)
- Excessive room or audience noise.
- Accents (British, foreign, heavy regional, or otherwise).
- Speakers using English as a second language.
- Two speakers at the same time.
- Poor sound quality (tape or environment).
- Material is of a highly technical nature.
- Recorded from the audience.
If you're captioning a lecture with an extensivw Q&A session (more than 10 minutes in length) or the Q&A is really a back-and-forth, our Broadcast w/o M&E classification would apply for captioning purposes.
